Mike Morse
Mike Morse is a Philly native and Syracuse alum. He developed in interest in moving imagery in high school. Those studies continued in college where his curiosity in photography was also born.
He is a lover of light, shadows, shapes and colors. Still and moving images serve as his outlet. He continuously tries to capture the world around him - “stolen moments.”He finds inspiration in the works of auteurs such as Terrence Malick or Wong Kar-wai and the cinematographers who work with them - Emmanuel Lubezki and Christopher Doyle amongst others. For Mike the world has become his canvas and light the paint with which he uses to create his images.
His photography focuses primarily on landscapes and architecture, as well as scenes from daily life. The emphasis of his work is on how light and shadows play within these environments and how fleeting these “perfect” moments are. Mike is very much a light chaser and shadow searcher.
