FIRST FRIDAYS in Skippack Village: ARTIST - Frank Rauscher / Gallery Opening / September 6th, 2013

Artist Frank Rauscher

Artist Frank Rauscher

After Studying with Ernest Muehlmatt, Frank began carving competitively in 1977.  Since then, he has won several awards among major carving competitions including Best in Show and the annual Ward Foundation show.

Recently, Rauscher’s artistic achievement has been in wood burnings and wood turnings which can be found in galleries throughout New England and the Tri-State area.

Rauscher’s creativity with wood is additionally accompanied by his talent for painting in watercolor, pastes, and pen-and-ink.

Following studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Rauscher continued under the direction of local artists:  Chris Chadwick, Michael Adams, and Ann Brennan.

While being an accomplished bird and animal sculpture in wood, he presently devotes his time to watercolor while seemlessly enfusing his love of wood burning using acrylic washes to tint his wood plallets.

Rauscher conducts local lectures and seminars on wood burning, including carving detail.  He invites you to enter into his world of nature as he will be conducting live demonstration very weekend during his month long exhibition at Green Wolf’s Village Barn Shoppes.

Rauscher has carving for almost forty years and has been teaching for over thirty.  His primary subjects are song birds and birds of prey, with an occasional foray into wildlife carvings in three dimensions or relief.

A gallery opening reception will be held on September 6th from 5 - 10pm during
