FIRST FRIDAYS in Skippack Village: Photographer - Scott Mabry / Gallery Opening / August 1st, 2014

Photographer Scott Mabry

Statement
Scott Mabry’s innovative, award winning, and creative photographic style has been well established in Philadelphia and Tri-State Areas for over 20 years. At age 15, his mother bought him his first 35mm SLR and he began capturing wildlife and nature along the banks of the Perkiomen and East Branch Creek with childhood friend, Joseph Taylor.

In his senior year of high school, Scott recorded and documented, what are now, some of the most cherished and treasured memories of faculty and fellow classmates for his high school yearbook and neighboring publications.

By the early 90's, Scott began contributing to a number of publishing companies and media outlets and is also an avid contributor to Pennsylvania Magazine, Valley Forge Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Nouveau Magazine and Collegeville Way newspapers. Scott’s work has also earned his recognition in such publications as Bucks and Chester County Town and Country Living Magazines, Metro Corp Publishing, Mainline Today Magazine, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Valley Forge Historical National Park, Saunders College Publishing and The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts Museum in Harrisburg, PA, to name just a few.

Scott continues to capture and inspire the interests of multiple media outlets and book publishers, providing photography services on the cutting edge, one image at a time.

FIRST FRIDAYS in Skippack Village: ARTIST - Dorothy Whalen / Gallery Opening / March 7th, 2014

Artist Dorothy Whalen

Statement
“My paintings are Realistic with a touch of Impressionism.  The portfolio consists of Land/Seascapes, Still life and Florals, sizes range from 14x18 to 18x24.  I work mainly in oils using brushes, palette knife and sometimes good old fingertips too...

My aim is simple...to create a work that is pleasing as well as interesting to the onlooker...allowing them perhaps to escape for a short time... the way I do when I create.”

Testimonial
“It gives me a great pleasure to write this artist testimonial statement and profile on behalf of Dot Whalen, artist.  Throughout the many years I've known her and had her as one of my painting students, Dot has been a hardworking and very prolific oil painter.  Dot specializes in mostly oils and sometimes acrylics in her earlier works.  She utilizes the representational still life’s, seascapes and landscapes into beautiful eye catching composition.  Her works are pleasing to the viewer and can adorn the modest to even the contemporary walls of any home or alternative space.

I've always known Dot to have a keen eye for detail and perfection in her executions.  This is why her paintings hold a strong feel in capturing the mood or even "time of day" as I once put it into words.  When the audience can sense an emotion or feeling from a two dimensional piece, you have what we call a working piece.  Her sizes range from 14'x18' to 18'x24' and sometimes larger.  Dot chooses wood frames for her work and we usually frame the paintings in our classes together.

In closing, Adding Dot Whalen's contemporary realism to one's environment can and will enhance the look of the living and even office space” - Frank Bruno / Artist / Art Instructor / Art Marketing and Career Coaching
