Artist Linda McManus

Statement
photographer linda mcmanus
“I am a photographer, mom, and all around creative thinker. My photographic services include portrait, event and product photography, as well as residential/commercial property photography for the real estate market.

I also love creating art for licensing. This world began with a photograph of my son with kisses all over his face that was licensed for a greeting card. My commercial work includes various lines of creative imagery including Funny Felines, Floral Foods, Fontography and more. My commercial work has been applied to greeting cards, home decor products, framed art and more. Products have sold nationally and internationally through various catalogs, on line sites, major department store chains and smaller gift boutiques, such as Target stores, Carlton Cards, Wegmans as well as catalog companies such as Country House and Sturbridge Yankee Workshop.

My first love will always be fine art photography. I approach each project and image with a fine artist's eye. My fine art photography series, "Trees", has been exhibited by various galleries and art shows in my local area.

My career path has included lead photographer/manager for QVC.com, launching my own greeting card and licensing business with various publishers, and residential/commercial photographer for high-end real estate brokers in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Motherhood is by far the most rewarding and challenging job I've ever had. I live with my chef husband and two quickly growing boys in beautiful Bucks County PA. I can't deny my love and affection for anything with four legs and fur. We were blessed with the company of "Mac" and German Sheppard for nine wonderful years and recently we were rescued by a little girl named "Zoe".

Giving back is a must! When I can, I donate my service and talents to various charities, including the Bucks County SPCA, Kelly Anne Dolan Fund and the Gia Nicole Angel Foundation.”

FIRST FRIDAYS in Skippack Village: Artist Kimberly Lageman / Gallery Opening Reception / July 11th, 2014

artist kimberly lageman skippack first friday gallery art exhibit

Artist Kimberly Lageman

Biography
“When I’m asked what I do I for a living I say, “I am an artist.”  It’s not what I do, it’s what I am. I’m a self-taught artist, the daughter of an architect who grew up playing with architectural templates, compasses, T-squares, triangles, French curves, mechanical pencils and an abundance of colored

pencils as my first art supplies. I do not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept. My knowledge, inspirations and ideas have changed. Each piece I create is simultaneously an extension from the past and what I’ve learned, as well as a preview of the future. I’ve studied and worked in many mediums over the years but glass, whether stained, fused or blown, has become my newest passion and greatest challenge.  It challenges me in ways that other mediums do not; teaching me patience, delayed gratification and instilling upon me a sense of inner calm.  To know me is to understand that patience, delayed gratification and calm are polar opposites of my frenetic personality. The beauty of stained glass is more than just the individual piece of art – it is the interplay of light through the glass. The color of an entire room can be changed by the light hitting the colored glass; emitting a colorful glow upon the walls, turning a room into an ever-changing kaleidoscope of color. If a viewer stops for just a moment to view and reflect on a piece I have created, then I have succeeded in evoke visions, feelings and thoughts to the audience in some way, big or small.

artist kimberly lagemanMy work is influenced by artists Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Victor Vasarely and the Color Field painters of the 40s/50s.  It has been shown at the Three River Art Festival in Pittsburgh, PA and more recently at shows at the Wayne Art Center in Wayne, PA.

In my earlier career I worked in political advertising and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, with minors in both Art and Psychology from Temple University.  I have also studied Information Science at Drexel University, Microbiology at Penn State and am a certified Horticultural Therapist.”

Opening Reception:   July 11, 2014, 5 – 10pm
