Painting mostly in oil and acrylic, Mairin captures beauty in the ordinary through bold, colorful expression. Her style involves noticeable brush strokes and texture. The artist's intention is to delight the viewer with images that are aesthetically pleasing and to create duende, which comes from inside as a physical and/or emotional response to the art.Mairin’s love for painting began the moment she first held a paint brush, and her interest as an adult became a passion and career.
Rather than discouraging her from pursuing an art career, like many parents do, Mairin’s parents invigorated her passion, encouraging her to major in art. While attending Miami University, Mairin was very active in the art community, serving as the Secretary and President of the National Art Education Association. She was on the Dean’s list junior and senior year and received the Outstanding Senior Award in Art Education at graduation. Mairin received her BS in Art Education from Miami University, and currently works in the greater Philadelphia area as a professional artist and art instructor.
Two of Mairin’s biggest accomplishments while living and working in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, were guest speaker and exhibitor at the Susquehanna Art Museum, and working with at-risk youth, mentoring them through the art process. Since moving to the Philadelphia area in August 2013, Mairin dove into the art scene head first and is actively involved in many art organizations and galleries. She is a member and art instructor with both the North Penn Art Alliance (NPAA) in Lansdale, Pennsylvania and Art Nouveau Galleries in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Since becoming an associate of the Twenty-Two Gallery in Philadelphia, Mairin has explored the surrounding Philadelphia art scene and exhibited at the Plastic Club and Einstein Braemer Medical Arts Building. Her first honor in this new territory was from NPAA’s 26th Anniversary Art Show, receiving the “People’s Choice” Award. Mairin is branching out and has representation at the Mac Worthington Gallery in Columbus Ohio starting in April. Looking forward, she also has numerous art festivals, exhibits, and solo shows confirmed.
