Skippack Events & Gallery Exhibitions

The Village Barn’s December featured art exhibition will be Sherry Ward and Janice Ward. On hand at this exhibit will be a large array of pastel landscapes and still-life's as well as stone, clay, and cellulose sculptures.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Sherry Ward: Quilting and writing for many years, Sherry began painting when her oldest son went off to college. For several years she studied in an oriental brush style, painting mostly watercolor floras. Several years ago, Sherry branched out into landscapes and still-life’s, and began to experiment with other mediums.

Most recently she has begun studying pastel and has become an enthusiastic devotee of the medium. “The brilliant color, rich texture, and immediacy of the medium make it my most exciting painting experience ever,” Sherry proclaims. “The creative experience is amazing,” she added, “at some special moments, I forget myself and feel a certain oneness with the creation. This is the very best!

She equally enjoys working in her home studio in Schwenksville, PA or spending a beautiful day outdoors with other painting buddies.

Sherry continues to learn and grow as an artist taking classes and workshops in both the states and abroad. She’s affiliated with The Greater Norristown Art League, Perkiomen Valley Art Center, Wayne Art Center and Yates County Art Center in New York. She has been
exhibiting, selling and winning awards for many years.

Janice Ward: Janice is a painter and a sculptor. She enjoys exploring new and imaginative ways to express herself using a variety of materials. In her paintings she works in watercolor and oil. In her sculptures she works in stone, clay, and cellulose. For this show she is mainly featuring sculpture - past and present.

Her work has been selected for many juried shows such as Immaculata College, Yellow Springs, Rittenhouse Square, Phillip's Mill, and Woodmere Museum. She has a Fine Arts Degree from the University of
the Arts.
