We are excited to announce the opening of our bi-monthly fine art and craft exhibits. Harleysville artist JUDY ALDERFER will exhibit her watercolors September 25 until October 8, 2009. A complementary wine & cheese reception will be offered the first Saturday evening of each new exhibit from 6pm – 9pm.
Designer Carrie Mehl created a jewelry line called "Chic Hardwear," for women who dare to be noticed. Whether it's a fabulous night out, or an evening in jeans, she has a piece for every occasion. Matisse, along with other artists are one of her color inspirations foe chic designs in natural gemstones, vintage crystal, and resin. Custom designs are a specialty.
Tucked away in the corner is a small selection of boutique items changing from week to week with clothing, jewelry, accessories for teens to ladies, from Marsha Stevens. Marsha is also a co-founder of Skippack Days, a friend of the barn and former owner of Sunstone Mountain Boutique, Skippack in 1972. She is one of the founders and board member of the Indian Valley Arts Foundation.
Harry and Sylvia Wolf have been collecting over 40 years and now invite you to share in the intrigue and ingenuity of the men and woman of the 18th and 19th Century in our “Gifts From Our Loving Husbands” museum exhibit, previewing in the center of the barn and it’s open loft second floor balcony. Sylvia shares with you her humorous collection of home makers’ inventions given to loved ones to make home life “easier” along with Skippack memorabilia. Among the intriguing items you'll find there are the early 1900’s post office boxes from the old Skippack Post Office - 4019 Skippack Pike and Store Road (now Style Crafters Salon) and a tin lined Bell Telephone booth and where you can read about it’s former loving owners the Croll’s who were earlier shop keepers and residents in historic Skippack Village.
Not sure how to begin to fix something? Stop by Fox and Wolf, (on the lower level of The Village Barn) celebrating its 40th Year Anniversary. Furniture maker and designer of fine cabinetry, owner Harry Wolf, can help answer your questions.
On Skippack Days the grounds of Harry and Sylvia’s home, next to The Village Barn will be filled with works from a wide array of local artists and artisans exhibiting their work for sale from such organizations as the Greater Norristown Art League, Perkiomen Valley Art Center, and Lehigh Valley Woodturners. Watch and speak with Bill Schleif of Schleif Woodturning while he demonstrates wood turning on his lathe and blacksmith Steve Crockett. Enjoy Janice Freytag creating etchings and prints. I started doing the little "whimsical" paintings with the birth of my three grandchildren. I am having fun filling up the walls of their bedrooms with paintings of animals and butterflies, turtles, bees and flowers.
All the watercolors in this show are original paintings. If you have any questions you can call me at 215-721-0480 and lave a message and w will get back to you. I am sorry but I do not do commissions.
