Eva Ramanuskas

“I was born and raised in Hungary. In 1965 I moved to the United States.

I always enjoyed art and I dreamed that someday I would paint. Finally in 1984 my dream came thru and I created my first painting. I never painted before and the painting was primitive but I loved it and I was hooked. I poured over art books, took workshops from prominent locally and nationally known artists, and I never stopped painting. A few years later I quit my career as an accountant to become a full time artist.

Painting opened my eyes to the beauty of God’s creation and that is what I strive to reflect in my paintings. I enjoy painting portraits and capturing the very essence of each person. Still life gives me the opportunity to create beautiful compositions with fruit and flowers. Landscapes and cityscapes give me the opportunity to capture the memories of special places I visited in the past. Every painting gives me a unique challenge and fulfillment.

Through the years I exhibited in many juried shows and won numerous awards. My paintings can be found in many private and public collections, among them: North Penn Chamber, Lansdale Library, Lower Gwynedd Township, Biblical Theological Seminary and Temple University.

I thank God for this wonderful gift.” – Eva Ramanuskas

SKIPPACK FIRST FRIDAY: North Penn Arts Alliance Gallery Opening Featuring Artist - Gay Brunt Miller

Exhibiting Artist

Gay Brunt Miller
I think of myself as an “accidental artist,” as my art has really developed only within the past several years, beginning with the encouragement of my spiritual director while on silent retreat weekends.

My primary art form is called a mandala--a meditative art form within in a circle. It is a way of engaging and expressing a different part of my being—less cognitive and word-driven and more intuitive and emotive. Some are very personal, expressing my deepest feelings. Others are pure relaxation and a creative outlet.

With roots in ancient Buddhist and Hindu practices, mandalas are also widely incorporated into Christian art. Many stained glass windows in churches incorporate mandalas.

Beginning with a compass, I draw the large outer circle. Most often I find myself staring at the circle for some time until I get a sense of what that particular mandala “wants to be” and what colors I am drawn to use. Rarely do I begin with a specific design in mind. Rather, the design emerges a step at a time. I think I am often as surprised as anyone by the finished product. I work with markers, ink, and in some cases, pencil (primarily used for shading effects).

Recently I have begun incorporating more Zentangle® patterns into my mandalas (known as Zendalas) as well as creating other Zentangle® inspired art (not necessarily in a circle).

I hope you enjoy my art…as much as I enjoy making it! – Gay Brunt Miller

Post - impressionistic painterly fashion is the true direction of local Harleysville artist Lisa Kerr, in contrast from her on-going lengthy career in Graphic Design. Her large scale paintings on canvas now show more refined modern fine art techniques. Her use of Hans Hoffman like “Coloration” is applied to her acrylic painting as she juxtaposes vivid color choices throughout the compositions. Bold brush strokes and working in a strong action style painting allows  a more spontaneous freedom to her eye catching creations. Her inspirations include many post impressionists as well as modernists but more current are such contemporary artists as Betty Billups, Kevin Macpherson and Kenn Backhaus.

Mike Morse

skippack first friday art gallery opening featuring photographer mike morse

Mike Morse is a Philly native and Syracuse alum. He developed in interest in moving imagery in high school. Those studies continued in college where his curiosity in photography was also born.

He is a lover of light, shadows, shapes and colors. Still and moving images serve as his outlet. He continuously tries to capture the world around him - “stolen moments.”

He finds inspiration in the works of auteurs such as Terrence Malick or Wong Kar-wai and the cinematographers who work with them - Emmanuel Lubezki and Christopher Doyle amongst others. For Mike the world has become his canvas and light the paint with which he uses to create his images.

His photography focuses primarily on landscapes and architecture, as well as scenes from daily life. The emphasis of his work is on how light and shadows play within these environments and how fleeting these “perfect” moments are. Mike is very much a light chaser and shadow searcher.
